Over the last 12 months, the BIA focused its influence on securing long-term investment for research and development tax incentives, and lobbying the government to unlock more growth capital for scale-up innovators. They have also influenced the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) over evaluation and treatment of rare diseases, and updated the national strategy for mRNA technology, influencing the government to invest in infrastructure and closing skills gaps for vaccine and immune system research.
